Lis Sam
The butterflies
A young artist from Cannes born in 1989, Lis Sam had, from an early age, a pronounced taste for creation. Self-taught from the Street Art culture, he first expressed his art through graffiti, tags and other drawings.
Later, his works took a more flowery turn when he incorporated roses into his universe. Lis Sam quickly became known for his refined creations and now exhibits in several international galleries.
It is with the desire to tell his story that he incorporates butterflies into his sculptures under glass and his paintings. It is also a way of symbolizing his personal “rebirth”: from construction worker to international artist living from his passion…
Lis Sam's butterflies are pledges of hope and prove that anything is possible. They are a hymn to Freedom.
He then took an artistic turn: optical art. He creates more contemporary works, mixing touches of Street Art.
For several years he developed his own technique. Lis Sam echoes his long moments spent in butterfly greenhouses in the South of France. Seeing them twirl in all directions, he imagined them freezing to form his favorite characters.
Back in his studio, he began to bring his colorful portraits to life.
He then framed his work under museum glass, as if they were once again under a greenhouse.
With the different plays of light on the canvas, the distance at which we stand, everyone sees a unique canvas.
