Photographer

A multidisciplinary and committed artist.

It was very early on that the love of photography was born in this self-taught artist with a curious, imaginative and perfectionist personality. Today, he is a multidisciplinary artist who expresses himself in photography, sculpture, video, painting or live performance to make his commitments heard.

When he started, Philippe Shangti established himself in the city of Saint-Tropez. It is this “muse-city” which inspired his first revolts  and saw the birth of his first creative concepts, which truly revealed him in the very demanding environment of contemporary art.

His art: his fights.

Through art, the artist denounces the vices of our society and points the finger at human behavior to awaken consciences.

Thanks to an aesthetic pushed to its climax in each of his works, the artist deals with serious subjects such as pollution, drugs, the condition of women, prostitution or even animal condition.

Each year, Philippe Shangti presents a new collection of works bearing a new fight. Each new series is a challenge as delicate as it is audacious to deal with, for the artist denounces immorality by embellishing it. If he denounces the vices of this world with aestheticism, it is to effectively inscribe his fights in the mind of the public, with benevolence and depth. Without ever crossing the boundaries of moralizing sermon or vulgarity, the artist produces visuals that are more beautiful than violent in order to convey his messages to as many people as possible. To him, details, symmetry, perspectives and the balance of his works are of the utmost importance.

International recognition

Philippe Shangti is now one of the rising contemporary artists of his generation. His work is exhibited in numerous galleries in France and abroad: Geneva, London, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Ibiza, Amsterdam, Paris and Saint-Tropez.

In 2019, Philippe Shangti was selected to represent the Principality of Andorra at the 58th Venice Biennale.

His monumental shock project, once again very committed: “Future Is Now” aims to demonstrate that the behavior of people today irreversibly determines the world of tomorrow. Once again the intention is clear: changing human consciousness and behavior by shaking up the values and priorities of our societies.
